Below is the most important part in regards to your stay at our Altus Crash Pad.

Section 020303. Lodging

A traveler on TDY must reserve lodging compliant with U.S. Fire Administration guidelines. (Altus TDY House is on this list)

A. Booking Commercial Lodging

1. A traveler is responsible for any charges in excess of the per diem rate. Altus TDY House only charges you the authorized on-base rate, so you will not incur excess charges.

3. If a traveler cannot book commercial lodging using the TMC (including the electronic travel system) then the traveler must book directly with the commercial lodging facility (including the hotel’s online Web site). You’re in the right spot!

4. If a traveler obtains lodging through an online booking agent, reimbursement is authorized only when the traveler provides a documented itemized receipt for room costs from the hotel or online booking agent showing the following charges (CBCA 2431-TRAV, September 13, 2011):

a. Daily hotel room costs.

b. Daily hotel taxes.

c. Daily miscellaneous fees, if applicable. Altus TDY House provides all guests a daily itemized receipt at the end of their stay. If you require one monthly for accrual vouchers, we will provide that as well.

If you arrive and don’t receive a Non-A, you can still stay at our crashpad! Simply inform lodging that you prefer an alternative arrangement (Altus Crash Pad) as your personal choice. Altus TDY House will accommodate you at the on-base lodging rate, meaning you won’t pay anything out of pocket and still enjoy a fantastic Crash Pad. Note that in this case, you’ll receive the on-base per-diem rate, not the higher off-base per-diem rate provided with a Non-A.

Our Family Crash Pads do of course allow children and are catered to them.
However, our downtown loft units do not allow children.

Altus is a small, easy-to-navigate town, and all of our properties are conveniently located near Altus AFB. Even our furthest property is only about 3.5 miles from the base, making your daily commute quick and easy.

Can I bring my pet?

Absolutely! We know your furry family members are part of the crew, too. Pets are welcome at our family and pet-friendly homes, with a maximum of two pets per home.

Our pet fee is just $7 per night. That’s less than the $10/night pet fee at the on base Red River Inn. Your ETP to stay off base with your pet entitles you to $18/day in per-Diem for the Government Meal Rate (FY 2026 rate), think of it as putting a little of that daily allowance toward having your furry wingman along for the TDY. 🐾

Certain breed restrictions apply.

Yes, just go online to www.usps.com and have them forward your mail to the house. Please try to remember to forward your mail back to your new address shortly after you leave.

We will send you an electronic bill at the end of each month.  You simply pay with a credit card (GTC is accepted) and your invoice is automatically sent to you.  You can then print out/email yourself your daily itemized receipt to file with your travel voucher.

The city of Altus is small, you can get from just about anywhere in town to somewhere else in 5 mins. Our locations are no different. Our furthest military crash pad is about 3.5 miles away.

One of the best ways to stretch your TDY per diem is by saving on meals. Our Altus AFB Crash Pads include fully stocked kitchens, giving you the option to cook at home and keep more of your meal allowance in your pocket.

Altus TDY House does not offer cash, gift cards, alcohol, or other incentives tied to your lodging reimbursement. We believe in keeping things simple, transparent, and above board — protecting both our guests and our business.

Absolutely not. It is explicitly stated in the Joint Travel Regulation that the traveler gets to choose where to stay even when there is lodging available on base. If you decide to book a room with us, the Red River Inn appreciates if you cancel your reservation early (preferably two weeks prior to your class start date). So why live on base when you could live in a luxurious Altus AFB Crash Pad for the same price!!

You pay nothing out of pocket for lodging. Altus TDY House charges military members based on their authorized lodging rate, whether you’re staying off base with a Non-Availability (Non-A) or an approved ETP. You can learn more about how this works on our Altus AFB Crash Pad Payments page.

Your authorized lodging allowance is use-or-lose — if you choose lodging that costs less than your authorized rate, you don’t get to keep the difference. That’s why we focus on giving you the most comfortable, fully furnished stay possible within your authorized lodging rate.

Optional personal expenses, such as our $7/night pet fee, are separate from your lodging rate.

Simple — comfort and convenience. Hotels are great for a few nights, but when you’re in Altus for weeks or months, it’s nice to have a place that actually feels like home.
